IEP Accommodations in Louisiana
What IEP accommodations are available in Louisiana?
Louisiana IEPs must include a statement of supplementary aids and services, program modifications, and support for school personnel as required by Bulletin 1706, §320(A)(4). Accommodations enable the student to be educated with nondisabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate (least restrictive environment). The IEP must specify individual appropriate accommodations for LEAP 2025 and other state and district-wide assessments (Bulletin 1706, §320(A)(6)); accommodation decisions must align with LDOE's LEAP 2025 Accommodations and Accessibility Features User Guide. If a student will not participate in a regular assessment, the IEP must include a statement of why the assessment is not appropriate and which alternate assessment will be used. The IEP team must consider whether the student needs assistive technology devices and services (Bulletin 1706, §324(A)). Louisiana's IEP accommodations must be implemented consistently and are documented on the standardized state IEP form.
