IEP Accommodations in Nevada
What IEP accommodations are available in Nevada?
Nevada IEPs must specify all accommodations that enable the student with a disability to access the general curriculum and participate meaningfully in assessments, consistent with NAC 388.284. The IEP must include supplementary aids and services and program modifications or supports for school personnel to support the student in regular education settings. For state and districtwide assessments — including the Nevada Statewide Assessment System (NSSAS) and Nevada Alternate Assessment (NAA) — the IEP must specify any individual appropriate modifications. If the student requires an alternate assessment, the IEP must explain why the student cannot participate in the regular assessment and which alternate assessment is appropriate. The Nevada Department of Education provides guidance on permissible testing accommodations for students with disabilities. Accommodations must be provided at no cost to the family as part of FAPE. All teachers and service providers responsible for implementing accommodations must be informed of their specific responsibilities under NAC 388.296.
